Either that, or when you land in L.A., Ascalon City would be unlocked already for your Canthan character. You'd just have to port there and start the quests like normal...

Well, if all you plan on making is Assassins or Ritualists, the only incentive is story and XP.

But any of the core classes will need to get to Prophecy to get access to all the skills.

Additional quests to get to specific areas sounds plausible - let's hope it's true. Dragon's Lair, currently, can only be reached via the process of Ascending; you can't walk there. So if a Canthan character is ever going to kill all those dragons, it will require a special quest to get there.

The incentive fo Canthan characters to get back to Tyria is beating the 20 missions and getting 20 easy skill point. Thats not so little.

A Canthan character can't do the Ascension trials and get to Dragon's Lair the way Prophecies characters do?

Side note from the radio interview that's realted to the topic.

C1 character ascended coming to Cantha start 1/5-1/4 of the way in to the content (leaving 4/5-3/4) for C1 to experience.

In English he means:

If you bring one of your current Characters to Cantha it will Start 1/5 of the way through Cantha chapter....in a town that is Cantha's counterpart to Lion's Arch called "Kaineng Center". We know this as "The Marketplace" from the Preview event. ONLY ACSENDED CHAPTER 1 CHARCATERS CAN TRAVEL TO CANTHA.

If you make a Cantha Character, ASCEND IT, you can travel to Lion's Arch via the "Kaineng Center".

I have no idea if you can start an assasin in Chapter One from the begining Pre-searing.

"Re-Ascended Characters"? Maybe, but that would be odd.

but they can travel there by boat.

They cannot. This has been confirmed by Jeff Strain in the radio show posted here http://www.vgmfusion.com/ (ep. 46, 47, 48) Sorry, I can't remember the exact episode, it was either 47 or 48.

Assassins and Ritualists can only go to Cantha after they've ascended.

Gaile said in her last chitty-chat that you will be able to buy FoW armor for your assassin/ritualist? Not sure but I think that's what she meant here when she said:
Gaile Gray: Fow Armor is FoW armor. I don't see that changing.
Gaile Gray: However, if you mean for Rit and Assassin, then I would assume so.

the question is, new characters are going to team up with lvl 20 characters since early missions?

because as said before tyria characters are able to travel to cantha...

how are they gonna balance the enemies for both new chars and lvl 20 chars?

By the time your Cantha character gets to "The Marketplace" (or, whatever area Ascended Tyria characters come in from)), you'll also be level 20.

That's how it will balance out.

It makes sense that if you are in Lion's Arch, you can (eventually) do all the quests in Tyria. You can walk nearly everywhere. Of course you can get to Dragon's Lair -- you ascend to do so. You jump into the middle of the Prophecies storyline. Why would someone think it works otherwise? Did ANet ever imply that you wouldn't be able to do quests or missions on other continents just because you started elsewhere?

I don't think the game really cares about ascension as such, ascension just unlocks some quests (like other quests unlock more quests). You can completely skip ascension via the droks run if you wanted to, I believe. Do they even have ascension in Cantha, or might it be something different?

At any rate, I don't see a reason why Canthan characters would be locked out of doing the ascension missions, I don't know why people have been assuming this.
